Prepare Your Home for Sale Prince William Home Sales – Stacy Magid

When selling a home it is very important to take the time and make your home the most appealing prior to listing it in the MLS. As a REALTOR, I can make suggestions during our initial appointment but here is a short list of things that can be done in preparation of getting your home on the market.

Here is a list of some low cost items  to prepare your home for sale.

  1. Remove personal affects and clutter
  2. Paint moldings and walls (neutral color)
  3. Trim bushes so they don’t block windows and cut down on light.
  4. Buy a new doormat.
  5. Put a pot of bright flowers (or a small evergreen in winter) on your porch.
  6. Put new doorknobs on your doors.
  7. Put a fresh seal coating on your driveway.
  8. Edge the grass around walks and trees.
  9. Keep your garden tools out of site.
  10. Put away toys and pet items.
  11. Buy a new mailbox or paint/stain existing one.
  12. Upgrade the outside lighting.
  13. Use warm, incandescent light bulbs for a homey feel.
  14. Polish or replace your house numbers.
  15. Clean your gutters.
  16. Buy new pillows for the sofa.
  17. Make a centerpiece for your table with fruit or artificial flowers.
  18. Replace heavy curtains with sheer ones that let in more light.
